Dekim Barton is the elder of the Barton family. Though Operation Meteor fails the first time the way he planned it, he returns in Endless Waltz to try and take over once more, using his granddaughter Mariamaia as a puppet to achieve his goals.
Trowa Barton is the son of the Barton family and was the original pilot for the Gundam Heavyarms. However, when Doctor S discovered the Bartons' true ambitions to rule the world's sphere and use Operation Meteor as a murder weapon, he and his comrade killed Trowa in cold blood for fear that he would have them killed for opposing the Barton family. A technician called "No Name" stepped foward and agreed to pilot Heavyarms and complete the scientists' vision of Operation Meteor instead, and he took Trowa's name to do so, becoming the Trowa Barton known in the series.
Leia Barton is the daughter of the Barton family and a nurse at the Barton hospital on the L3 Colony. She met Treize Kushrenada while he was on a Special's mission on L3, and after he sustained wounds in battle, she cared for him at the hospital and fell in love. She had his child, Mariamaia, but died only a couple of years later.
