The following is a guide to all 49 episodes, their titles, and what happens in each. There are major spoilers ahead for Gundam Wing.
#01 - The Shooting Star She Saw
On a return trip from outer space with her father, Relena Dorlian notices a meteorite headed
for Earth. It turns out this "meteor" is really Heero Yuy - assassin and pilot fighting to
free the colonies from the Alliance and OZ's iron grip. However, Heero can't shoot the shuttle
carrying Relena - Lt. Zechs Merquise has noticed his craft and is preparing to fight. Heading
out in his own mobile suit, along with two subordinates, Zechs encounters Heero and gets a
taste of a Gundam's strength. Realizing he can't defeat Heero quite yet, Zechs rams his Leo
into Wing Gundam and parachutes off, watching as both mobile suits crash into the Pacific
Ocean. Later that evening, as Relena's walking home back on Earth, she notices a body washed
up on shore. In an attempt to help the victim, Relena calls an ambulance. Heero wakes up and
freaks out because Relena's taken his helmet off and she's seen his face. He makesa run for
it, killing the ambulance guys to steal their vehicle. The next day, he enrolls in Relena's
school as an undercover act, and after Relena tries to invite him to her upcoming birthday
party, he rips her invitation in half and declares he'll kill her.
#02 - The Gundam Deathscythe
While Relena sits in the back of her pink limo trying to figure out why Heero wants to kill
her, Heero figures he should destroy his Gundam before the Alliance can find it. However,
Zechs is already searching for the Gundam in hopes of providing OZ with the mobile suit's
data. He doesn't get far though - Gundam Pilot 02, the infamous God of Death, Duo Maxwell,
takes his Gundam underwater for a little deep sea destruction. After finding Wing Gundam, he
randomly decides he can use a backup Gundam. Relena skips out on her own birthday party to
follow Heero into a military-guarded base, where he plans to send some torpedos out to destroy
his Gundam. Heero attemps to kill Relena, but she's saved by Duo. Relena steps between the
two pilots to save Heero's life. When no one's paying attention, Deathscythe and Wing emerge
with the tide, and Heero hurriedly fires torpedos to stop both Gundams. He collaspes in the
water unconscious, leaving Duo rather pissed off, and Relena completely confused.
#03 - Five Gundams Confirmed
Heero wakes up in a secured room and strapped efficently to a bed, where he determines that
he's on the 50th floor of an Alliance Military Hospital. Major Sally Po, an Alliance medical
doctor, takes a liking to him and asks Relena about Heero's identity. Relena makes up a story
that she and Heero are great friends at school. Duo breaks into the hospital and gets Heero
out; both pilots dive out of the window. Heero neglects to open his parachute, but when Relena
screams after him, he changes his mind and crash lands on the beach, nearly giving Duo a heart
attack. Meanwhile, Zechs has found an old mobile suit called "Tallgeese" and is certain that
it has the potential to battle the Gundams. Somewhere else on Earth, Trowa Barton, pilot of
Gundam Heavyarms, attacks an Alliance base and runs out of ammo. He's saved by Quatre Winner,
pilot of Gundam Sandrock, and the Maguanac Corps.
#04 - The Victoria Nightmare
Zechs recalls an old friend from the Academy who once helped him out - Lt. Noin - and decides to go visit the Lake Victoria Base to ask for her help once more. Noin, who's completely in love with Zechs, eagerly awaits his arrival. Chang Wufei attacks the base that night while everyone's asleep, and Noin chases after him. However, she hesitates to kill him because of his age. Wufei informs her she's a weak soldier and takes out the rest of the mobile suits on the bse. When Noin returns, Zechs agrees to let her fight with him against the Gundams. Back in the Middle East, Quatre takes Trowa to his base, and near the Pacific, Heero refuses Duo's generous offer to rebuild the Wing Gundam, then steals Duo's parts and dashes off. And finally, Treize Kushrenada reclines in a bubble bath while calmly musing to kill Vice Minister Dorlian.
#05 - Relena's Secret
Relena goes back to space with her father to talk peace with the colonies. They find themselves on a shuttle with Lady Une, who acts cold and snotty towards them. During the meeting on the colony, Une leaves, then tosses a bomb into the conference room and orders her men to kill Relena. Relena and the injuried Mr. Dorlian are rescued by a rebel group, and as they escape, Dorlian informs Relena she's not his child, but instead the daughter of King Peacecraft of the Sanc Kingdom - then he dies. Dr. J finds Relena and helps her to a space port she she can get back to Earth, adding that his student Heero is dangerous but kind-hearted, and it's in her best interest to stay away from him.
#06 - Party Night
A distraught Relena makes it back to her school the night of a big party. Heero decides it's time he get out of Relena's school, but Relena stops him and forces him to dance with her before he runs away. The Alliance attacks under Lady Une's orders to kill Dorlian's daughter, and Heero saves Relena's life a few times. He tries to figure out what the hell is wrong with him before running away from the situation entirely. Treize calls off the attack as a favor to Zechs, since Relena's is Zechs' younger sister.
#07 - Scenario For Bloodshed
The Alliance decides to hold a meeting and promote peace with the colonies to stop the Gundams. Treize and Lady Une do some false advertising, saying that the meeting is really for top OZ officials instead of Alliance pacifists. Heero and Duo team up to go stop the meeting, while Trowa and Quatre do the same. Heero kills the pacifist Marshall Noventa. And in all the confusion, OZ takes advantage of the situation, and captures Alliance bases world wide for their own benefit. Wufei comes late from the New Edwards base to inform the other four pilots that they were used like puppets by Treize Kushrenada.
#08 - The Treize Assassination
Wufei and Trowa leave to attack Treize while Duo, Heero and Quatre stay at New Edwards about the confusion and realization of their mistake. Lady Une tries to set off a bunch of missiles, but Sally Po orders Heero to stop them, and waits calmly while he heads to deactivate said missiles. Zechs finally "sort-of" reveals his identity as Milliardo Peacecraft by murdering the Alliance officer responsible for killing his family and ruining the Sanc Kingdom. Wufei makes it to Treize's ship despite Lady Une's objections, and gets out of his Gundam to exchange a little sword play with the leader of OZ. When Wufei loses the duel, Trieze refuses to kill him. Wufei rants about coming back and killing Treize later before sinking to the bottom of the ocean to sulk.
#09 - Portrait of a Ruined Country
Zechs, with the unpredictable Tallgeese, heads back to the Sanc Kingdom along with Noin and a fleet of OZ mobile suits. Tallgeese proves it's difficult to handle, giving Zechs a heart attack while piloting it. While Zechs lies in a tent trying to recover, one of his faithful followers takes Tallgeese on a suicide mission and conquers the Sanc Kingdom. For the first time, Zechs removes his mask to show everyone his face, apologizes to a picture of his father, asks for forgiveness, and decides Relena can lead the Sanc Kingdom Monarchy instead of him. Heero and Duo enroll in another school, then make a game out of destroying an OZ base first. Relena follows Heero to this new school to see him again.
#10 - Heero, Distracted By Defeat
Treize puts Lady Une in charge of destroying the Gundams, so she plans a huge-scale attack. She gives a briefing on how this is supposed to go. Zechs is told to battle Heero with his new Tallgeese, while Noin is forced to join Lady Une at the central command. Four of the Gundams head off to destroy the OZ mobile suit transports. In the midst of fighting, Lady Une halts everything by announcing she'll destroy a colony if the Gundams don't surrender. Dr. J announces that he will surrender, but he will not let OZ have his Gundam. Heero self-destructs the Wing, halting the battle. Zechs promises not to attack while Trowa takes Heero's crippled body and the Gundam retreat. Treize tells Lady Une she must be more graceful in the future.
#11 - The Whereabouts of Happiness
Duo and Quatre retreat to the desert base to grieve over Heero and their defeat. OZ troops figure out where they are, and decide to destroy the base and the town around it. The Maguanacs head out to battle OZ, letting the town evacuate while Duo and Quatre escape. Zechs decides that he should rebuild Wing Gundam even though Heero's probably dead. Relena finds Lady Une in Moscow and going against her life's teachings, she tries to kill Une. Noin ends up saving her under Treize's orders and her own allegience to Zechs.
#12 - Bewildered Soldiers
Heero, who's been unconscious for a month, wakes up in the care of Catherine and Trowa. Trowa fills Heero in on everything that's happened while he's been in a coma. Wufei finds Sally Po while he's wandering around China. Sally's no longer with the Alliance, but she's now a rebel fighter opposing OZ and what's left of the Alliance. After informing Sally she's weak, Wufei saves her and her comrades with Shenlong Gundam. In the meantime, the circus decides to hold a big to-do for the OZ soldiers in the area, and Trowa decides to self-detonate his own Gundam to follow Heero's selfless act.
#13 - Catherine's Tears
Noin's subordinates Alex and Muller began slaughtering remaining Alliance troops for fun. Zechs joins them for a while until he sees that their reasons aren't all that great and are rather dishonorable. He kills both men for disgracing OZ and their trainer. Meanwhile, Trowa brings Heavyarms out into the middle of the circus ring with the intention of self-destructing as a grand finale act. However, he ends up saving Catherine from OZ troops, and she then slaps him and starts crying, informing Trowa he's a selfish for wanting to leave his friends behind.
#14 - The Order to Destroy 01
Heero and Trowa head out to locate the remaining relatives of Marshall Noventa. Heero talks to Sylvia, Noventa's granddaughter, and asks her to kill him in exchange for Marshall Noventa's death. However, Sylvia can't do this, and neither can her grandmother. In the meantime, Noin has become Captain of the former Sanc Kingdom's Imperial Guards, and she's taken Relena to a big gala where a bunch of Romefellar aristocrats are gathering. Treize gives a speech about eliminating the Gundams, and Relena takes center stage to defy him. Noin is pretty furious at her, takes her off the stage, and apologizes for Relena's act. Romefeller orders Zechs to destroy what's left of Wing Gundam, but Zechs blows up some spare parts instead, hoping they won't notice.
#15 - To the Battleground: Antartica
Noin finds Heero and Trowa, and she invites them to come to Antartica with her so Heero can finish his battle with Zechs and not be interrupted. Romefellar tracks the trio, assuming that they're headed off to meet Zechs. They attack Noin and demand she reveal Zechs' location, but Trowa goes out to save her, killing off all the attackers without second thought. Noin has some deep, introspective thoughts on the effects of war in underaged fighters.
#16 - The Sorrowful Battle
Noin, Heero and Trowa show up in Antartica. Zechs shows Heero the rebuilt Wing Gundam. Heero decides to use Trowa's Heavyarms in the battle instead of his own Gundam. As the battle begans, Relena shows up with a letter for him from Marshall Noventa's wife, forgiving Heero for the assassination of her husband. Both Heero and Zechs tell her to leave the battleground. Relena notices that Heero is still wounded, and she orders him to kill Zechs. Noin interjects, and tells Relena that she shouldn't wish the murder of her own brother. The battle ends only when troops show up to stop Zechs. Heero and Trowa escape, and Noin saves Relena. Zechs stays to battle the troops alone.
#17 - Betrayed By Home Far Away
Romefeller's testing of mobile dolls is well underway and nearly ready for mass production. Treize doesn't like this turn of events. He sends Lady Une to space to try and gain the colonies' affections. Lady Une has developed a split personality by this point, and she's no longer the evil woman ruthlessly killing people. She does as Treize asks. Back on Earth, Quatre and Duo figure it's time to head back to space since they couldn't accomplish their original mission. They start a battle at a Singapore base before they leave, hoping the other Gundam pilots will catch on to their plan. Wufei shows up to lend them a hand, and Quatre self-detonates Sandrock before he goes to destroy the remaining OZ troops. Heero and Trowa catch the message and go to space as well, leaving their own Gundams hidden on earth. Somewhere up in space on the colonies, the five Gundam Scientists are captured by OZ.
#18 - Tallgeese Destroyed
Zechs tells Treize he can't support OZ any longer, because the organization is taking a few turns he doesn't like. In turn, Treize gives Zechs the chance to die like a hero in battle, ordering a few hundred mobile suits to attack Zechs. However, Zechs isn't the type to lay down and sacrifice himself, so he defeats the mobile suits without much problem. During the process, his mask finally shatters, ending his friendship with Treize. Up in space, an unconscious Quatre's shuttle drifts about. He ends up in Alliance space, and they decide to help him. Lady Une orders OZ to kill Quatre. At the same time, she orders the Gundam Scientists to build a couple of Gundams for OZ. The Scientists agree, but only under the condition that Une spare Quatre. She lies a little promise, turns around, and orders her soldiers to kill Quatre just the same. An Alliance officer boards Quatre's shuttle and finds him dying, and unable to bear the thought of OZ killing Quatre, he puts Quatre in his own shuttle and then lets Une blow him up instead. Back on Earth, Zechs washes up on shore unconscious as well, due to his strained battle.
#19 - Assault on Barge
Zechs wakes up and discovers that a man named Howard found him and took him in. Howard helped build the Tallgeese, and agrees to help Zechs repair it. In space, Duo is captured by OZ. The people of the colonies demand for Duo's execution. Heero heads off to kill Duo before OZ does, but ends up helping Duo escape.
#20 - The Lunar Base Infiltration
While Duo recovers on the L2 Colony, hiding beneath hats and pulled up collars so no one figures out who he is, Heero heads off to the Lunar Base with hopes of killing the five Gundam scientists and destroying the new mobile suits they've been making for OZ. On Earth, Sally Po and the Maguanacs meet - Sally wants to destroy the already partially destroyed Sandrock before OZ can rebuild it, and the Maguanacs want to take it back and rebuild it for Quatre. Sally finally relents and helps them escape. OZ decides to recruite new mobile suit pilots from the colonies. Trowa signs up. To test his loyalty, Lady Une orders him to destroy the remains of Deathscythe. OZ also figures they should broadcast this demonstration throughout the colonies, and much to Duo's horror, he's forced to watch his beloved Gundam shatter into thousands of pieces. If you only remember one thing from the series, I gaurantee it'll be Duo's long, loud, anguished scream when he saw his Gundam destroyed. At the Lunar Base, Heero's managed to get inside one of the new OZ suits, but he's captured by Trowa.
#21 - Grief-Stricken Quatre
Zechs has headed to space in Tallgeese as Ambassador Milliardo Peacecraft. Quatre wakes up in a hospital where his older sister - who happens to be a doctor - is taking care of him and deciding not to inform him they're related. She then takes him back to his home colony, right into the hands of his dad, who disowned him a few months prior. As father and son exchange some harsh, bitter words and continue to disagree, Iria admits her relation to Quatre and informs him that all 29 of his older sisters are rooting for him from the sidelines. Quatre decides to continue fighting, and finds some plans for a Gundam that his scientist left behind. His father is then killed by revolting colonists and OZ...as is his oldest sister. Quatre, alone in space with his dead father and dead sister, panics, cries, and starts laughing rather evilly, vowing revenge at any cost.
#22 - The Fight For Independence
A kind Lady Une greets Milliardo Peacecraft to the colonies. Romefeller appoints Chief Engineer Tsubarov in charge of mobile doll production at the Lunar Base. Treize tells Duke Dermail, his brother and chief of Romefeller, that he doesn't support mobile dolls. OZ's space fortress Barge decides to fire on a colony where the Alliance is still located...it also happens to be where Zechs and Une are located...and Une heads into battle as her kind personality. Treize asks Zechs to protect Lady Une. While Zechs goes out in Tallgeese and moves Lady Une out of harms way, Trowa saves the colony from one of Lady Une's subordinates who acted against her orders. Lady Une finally puts her glasses back on and becomes evil again. She demands Zechs take her back to the colony at once, where she confronts the officer who disobeyed her. Meanwhile, Wufei, drifting through space in a very destroyed Shenlong, decides to let Tsubarov capture him so he can get his Shenlong fixed by the scientists.
#23 - Duo, The God of Death Once Again
An OZ volunteer named Hilde tries to enlist Duo Maxwell to the OZ organization. Duo figures it might be fun to pretend to enlist...and in any case, he can get a mobile suit in the process. When OZ realizes who he is, they send Hilde to capture him. They exchange a few punches in mobile suits, and Hilde beats Duo. When she gets him chained to a chair and has a gun pointed at his head, Duo tells her they have the same goals in mind and shouldn't be fighting. Duo's philosophy makes some kind of sense to her, and she gives him the chance to escape. She even helps him by getting rid of the mobile dolls attacking him as he heads for the Lunar Base. This gets her kicked out of OZ, but she seems happier about it, at any rate. While Hilde is being fired, Duo makes it into the Lunar Base. He does find the scientists, as well as a partially built Deathscythe Hell and Altron. Duo allows himself to get caught so he can wait for his new Gundam to be completed.
#24 - The Gundam They Called ZERO
A mysterious Gundam that looks a lot like Wing appears in space and destroys a resource satellite. Then it turns around and points its double beam canon at a colony, and Lady Une must act against it. Figuring only a Gundam pilot can battle a Gundam, she sends Trowa and Heero out in the Vayeate and the Mercurius to stop the new pilot. Trowa and Heero are certain the pilot is Quatre, but they don't understand why he's threatening to destroy a colony. Instead of siding with them, Quatre opens fire on Trowa, and finally explains that outer space has gone crazy and he needs to stop the insanity. Heero decides Quatre's gone crazy instead, and vows to kill him.
#25 - Quatre VS Heero
Heero and Quatre begin to fight each other, and ZERO quickly defeats Heero's Mercurius. However, as Quatre fires a killing blast to finish Heero off, Trowa jumps between them to take the full attack. As the Vayeate begins to explode, Trowa tries to calm Quatre down. He's then thrown into space as the Gundam shatters into pieces. Heero attacts Quatre, while Quatre begs Heero to kill him and get Trowa. Heero pins Quatre down against a colony and finally passes out from his own wounds. Back on Earth, Treize steps down from his position as head of OZ. Lady Une, learning of Treize's resignation and Tsubarov's horrible plan to suffocate the remaining Gundam pilots, heads off to save the pilots, finally understanding Treize's wishes. She manages to turn the air supply back on before Tsubarov shoots her. Duo and Wufei manage to escape in their new Gundams.
#26 - The Eternal Flame of the Shooting Stars
Heero and Quatre are captured by OZ and taken to the Lunar Base. As OZ prepares to kill the two pilots, they're stopped by a group of soldiers calling themselves the Treize Faction, a group of soldiers who split from OZ when Treize resigned. After getting rid of the OZ soldiers, the Treize faction take Heero and Quatre to the Gundam Scientists, who explain all about the infamous ZERO system and its mind-affecting cockpit that's supposed to enhance the fighting abilities of its pilot. OZ shows back up again and takes over the Lunar Base once more, then they force Heero to try out the ZERO system as a test pilot. It doesn't take long for Heero to lose his mind to the system, and he quickly begins to destroy things. Quatre tries to stop Heero in the Mercurius. Heero falls out of ZERO and starts glowing. He sees this huge image of Relena hovering over ZERO, and Quatre decides they must return to earth.
#27 - The Locus of Victory and Defeat
Just in case you missed the first 26 episodes, this boring, 30-minute segment recaps half of them through Heero and Relena's narration. So if you're going to come in late, make sure you start with Episode 27.
#28 - Passing Destinies
Episode 28 allows Treize and Lady Une to pick up where Heero and Relena left off and finish the recap.
#29 - The Heroine of the Battlefield
Heero and Quatre arrive on Earth, where they're picked up by a military force. Even though the commander has orders to execute any Gundam pilots, he just can't bring himself to do so - and he lets the two escape. Meanwhile, Relena's rebuilt the Sanc Kingdom and started a pacifism school for girls there, protected by Noin. Noin finds she has more duties than keeping the Sanc Kingdom safe, though...like searching for hidden Gundams. Sally's still doing the same thing. She's found the Wing Gundam, but was arrested by OZ officers. Noin helps her escape in exchange for the Wing Gundam, and the two befriend each other. Back in Sanc, Dorothy Catalonia, granddaughter of Duke Dermail and neice to Treize Kushrenada, arrives as a representive and spy from Romefeller.
#30 - Reunion With Relena
Heero joins the Treize Faction against Romefeller and goes to fight. Quatre wanders through a nearby village while Heero's doing this, and has a chat with an elderly gentleman. Quatre learns about Relena's Kingdom and decides he and Heero need to head there. He steals an OZ mobile suit and goes to find Heero in the failing battle. Noin isn't too far behind, and asks both pilots to come with her. They all end up back at Sanc, where Relena hurries out to greet them and leans against a railing for some time gazing longingly at Heero, who looks rather uncomfortable.
#31 - The Glass Kingdom
Quatre's excited to be in Sanc, but Heero's quite ready to run. Relena puts him in a checkmate by stating that if he stays, he can help find the still-missing Trowa. Naturally, this makes Quatre want to stay even more, so Heero has little choice in the matter. They become the only male students in the school. Dorothy, who knows who both Quatre and Heero are, challenges Heero to a fencing match. Meanwhile, Romefeller pushes wounded members of the Treize Faction onto the Sanc Kingdom's grounds where Relena offers them sanctuary, thus giving Romefeller an excuse to try and attack. As OZ invades, Heero takes Wing Gundam out while Noin and Quatre take out two white Taurus suits and stop the attack.
#32 - The God of Death Meets Zero
Duo's been staying with Hilde on L2, where she runs a scrape yard and he helps out. Lt. Trant, a former comrade of Hilde's while she was with OZ, has discovered the Wing ZERO and figured if he could pilot it, he could become rich and famous. He needs some help though, and Duo seems to be the perfect canidate. Trant pretty much forces Duo into the cockpit, and of course, Duo goes crazy just like Heero and Quatre did. Trant isn't amused, and kicks Duo out of the cockpit. Hilde's been watching from the sidelines with D-Hell, and she gives the Gundam back to Duo so he can fight Trant. The two engage in a pretty intense battle, and ZERO finally decides Trant isn't a good enough pilot. Trant's helmet glass shatters, killing him, and ZERO drifts off into space, pilotless.
#33 - The Lonely Battlefield
Zechs puts his mask back on and joins Howard again - who's gone back to space and is piloting the battleship Peacemillion. While Zechs kills OZ soldiers in space, Romefeller calls for Relena. Relena heads out, but not before informing Heero to stay in Sanc. Heero leaves shortly after to join the Treize Faction in a battle in Luxembourg. Duke Dermail informs Relena that her kingdom is full of lies, especially since her own brother is running renagade in space and killing anyone he feels like. Relena informs him that the person is a masked fighter named Zechs Merquise, and cannot possibly be her brother Milliardo. On the way back to Sanc, Relena's car is attacked and she's saved by Quatre and Noin...and in Luxemburg, Heero gets a mysterious note from Treize informing him not to die.
#34 - And It's Name is Epyon
Treize welcomes Heero into his dark, mysterious mansion where the sounds of the battle are muffled. There, he shows Heero his brand new Gundam - Epyon. Heero and Treize have a long, deep discussion. Treize says he created Epyon to find the true meaning of battle, and Epyon has a mind-affecting system similar to ZERO. This system is a lot more interesting though, it can predict the pilot's future. Treize has no future, according to Epyon - so he gives the Gundam to Heero. Up in space, OZ soldiers have found the Wing ZERO and are preparing to destroy it. Zechs kills them, self-destructs Tallgeese, and steals the Wing ZERO. Heero takes Epyon into battle at Luxemburg, goes nuts again, kills everyone, and Epyon informs him that he's going to die. He staggers back to Treize, and Treize asks Heero to kill him. Heero refuses, and passes out.
#35 - The Return of Wufei
Trowa, memory wiped clean and completely confused and frightened, staggers back to the circus and runs into Catherine, who vows to protect him. Wufei, back at his home colony, battles mobile dolls in his new Altron Gundam. While he fights this battle, his colony leaders live up to their honor and self-destruct their colony before Wufei's very eyes, rather than allow OZ to control it. Quatre heads off to the Middle East to retrieve Sandrock, gets shot down, and starts walking the rest of the way. Wufei meets up with Zechs (still in ZERO), and Zechs asks if Wufei will join him against OZ. Wufei starts fighting Zechs instead. The ZERO system kicks in, and Zechs goes nuts for a bit, fires at Peacemillion instead of Wufei, and is finally calmed down by Howard. Wufei leaves the scene.
#36 - The Sanc Kingdom's Collaspe
Duo and Hilde head to the circus for the afternoon, and Duo's pretty happy and excited to see Trowa there. He visits after the acts are over, and Trowa freaks out when he sees Duo. In other parts of space, Tsubarov builds the Libra battleship. Romefeller attacks the Sanc Kingdom. Quatre, the Maguanacs, and Noin go into battle, but Relena dissolves her Kingdom rather than see her friends fight for it. She surrenders to Romefeller and allows herself to be captured. Noin and Quatre hurry into space before they're caught, or destroyed by mobile dolls.
#37 - ZERO vs. Epyon
Zechs goes back to Earth, where he finds Heero still fighting in Epyon despite the fact that Relena surrendered. Heero and Zechs starting fighting again. Duke Dermail informs Relena that she gets to be their representive for false intentions of world peace. Up in space, Tsubarov and his Libra are taken over by the White Fang. Wufei attacks this battle, killing both White Fang and OZ, figuring both are bad and deserve death. Tsubarov is killed in the crossfire. Back on Earth, Heero and Zechs' battle is getting really frightening as both become more deranged by the freaky systems controlling them. They finally stop, if only because they're exhausted to the point that they can't fight anymore. Heero informs Zechs that he can't use the Gundam Treize built, and Zechs agrees to switch Gundams. As OZ approachs to fight them both, Heero takes off in Wing ZERO and Zechs takes Epyon.
#38 - The Birth of Queen Relena
Wufei gets an offer from Noin asking if he'll join her and Quatre. He refuses. Duo drops in to see Quatre, and informs the blonde pilot that Trowa's still alive. Quatre goes to the circus and runs to Trowa, who doesn't recognize Quatre at all. Catherine gets mad and tells Quatre to leave. Quatre goes away and gets involved in another battle, and Trowa senses that Quatre is in danger. Much to Catherine's dismay, Trowa leaves again, still clueless about what's going on. Relena is crowned Queen of the World, and she gives a long speech about nations dissolving their borders for peace.
#39 - Trowa's Return to the Battlefield
Zechs heads back to space and is confronted by Quinze of White Fang, who asks if Zechs will be their leader and offer White Fang the support of his Gundam. Noin, Quatre and Trowa are attacked by OZ soldiers. Duo shows up in the nick of time to help them out. Still on Earth, Heero decides he needs to kill Relena again before she starts promoting Romefeller's ideals.
#40 - A New Leader
Howard, still piloting Peacemillion, contacts Duo and invites him aboard alongside Quatre, Trowa and Noin. Romefeller isn't happy with Duke Dermail, especially since Relena's ideals are more pleasing to the world's nations. Dorothy tells him to head to space. Heero and Relena have a little talk, and Heero finds he still can't kill her. Zechs boards the Libra as White Fang's new commander, and shoots down Duke Dermail's shuttle. Then he broadcasts his intentions across the colonies and Earth - he plans to destroy the Earth and save the colonies from opression.
#41 - Battle at Barge
Libra attacks Barge, since it's OZ's last space outpost. Noin takes Duo, Quatre and Trowa with her to find out what Zechs is really doing. Sally Po, still hoping to help a Gundam Pilot, finds Heero and gives him Trowa's old Heavyarms, which she's been keeping safe for a few months. They head up into space to join the battle there. Treize decides it's time he step back to center stage, and politely removes Relena from her position as Queen of the World, stating that siblings shouldn't be pitted against each other in an all-out war. Relena goes to space to stop her brother from destroying the world. Zechs takes Epyon out to fight the Gundams, and when Barge tries to fire at Zechs, Zechs destroys Barge.
#42 - Battleship Libra
The few survivors from Barge make it to Earth. Among them is Lady Une, who's been in a coma since Tsubarov shot her on the moon. Wufei is still fighting on his own, and he runs into Sally and Heero. Heero offers him the Wing ZERO, and ZERO informs Wufei that he needs to stop fighting on his own and join the other Gundam pilots. Wufei joins Heero and Sally and they all head off to Peacemillion to find the others. Meanwhile, Dorothy heads to space to join Zechs on Libra.
#43 - Target: Earth
Sally, Heero and Wufei make it to Libra, where the meet up with Noin, Quatre, Duo, and Trowa. It's the first time all five Gundam pilots have sat down in the same room with each other since they met at New Edwards at the start of the anime. Desperate OZ soldiers are holding the colony with Trowa's circus hostage, and are demanding that White Fang surrender Libra in exchange for the colony. Trowa takes Wing ZERO out to protect Catherine. Just as Trowa prepares to destroy the colony, Quatre talks him out of it, and Trowa's memory returns. Zechs fires Libra at Earth.
#44 - Go Forth, Gundam Team
Relena arrives on Libra, a little late to stop Zechs from putting a crater in Earth, but not too late to get a cold hug from the older brother she's never met. On Peacemillion, the Gundam boys are trying to decide if they should fight Treize or Zechs. They head out to stop Zechs, and Zechs sends out the mobile dolls. The Gundam pilots have a hard time stopping the dolls, since they haven't ever fought all together. Heero decides the Gundams need a leader, and appoints Quatre. He loads the ZERO system into Sandrock, and tells Quatre right before they head back out to battle. Quatre manages to control the system, and helps the Gundam boys defeat the mobile dolls (being controlled by another ZERO system and by Dorothy) while Heero and Zechs pick up on their battle some more. Dorothy panics when Quatre defeats her and orders Libra to fire at Peacemillion. Peacemillion barely dodges, and Zechs returns to Libra to take command again.
#45 - Signs of the Final Battle
Quatre takes the ZERO system out of Sandrock, confident that he can lead the others without it. Treize decides it's time he go into space and challenge Zechs. Hilde sneaks out and onto Libra to steal important information vital to the Gundam pilots. She meets Relena while she's there. On her way back to Peacemillion, she's attacked by OZ's suits, programmed with Heero and Trowa's fighting skills, and it's up to Duo to save her. A very wounded Hilde gives him the information, and she informs Heero that Relena's on Libra.
#46 - Milliardo's Decision
Heero heads to Libra to save Relena, and he begins to understand Zechs' intentions - Zechs plans to unite everyone against him, and by becoming the single enemy the war will end. Treize, in Tallgeese II, challenges Zechs. Instead of dueling, Zechs fires Libra at Treize. Lady Une, who ripped out all her IVs and stole Wing Gundam, arrives just in time to get in front of Treize and take the full hit of Libra's canon. As Wing is destroyed again, Une makes it out safely and takes over the remaining OZ/Treize Faction soldiers as commander while Treize is fighting in the battle.
#47 - Collision in Space
Heero decides to stay with Relena on Libra while Zechs heads out to fight the other Gundam pilots, taking only three mobile dolls with him. Libra prepares to fire at the Earth again, and Sally commands Peacemillion to block the attack by ramming into Libra's beam cannon, therefore making the weapon impossible to use. Zechs leaves his fight to stop Peacemillion, but Noin intercepts him. Neither can bring themselves to kill each other, and Peacemillion crashes into Libra. Wufei heads off to find Treize, and Quatre, Duo and Trowa enter Libra on foot. Duo finds the five Gundam Scientists, who were captured by White Fang. Quatre finds Dorothy. Zechs waits on top of Libra with Noin at his side, hoping to finish his fight with Heero.
#48 - Take Off Into Confusion
Zechs decides to crash Libra into Earth in order to create massive confusion and destroy even more of the planet. Duo helps the scientists get onto Peacemillion, so they can reverse the engines and stop Zechs' plan. Duo realizes Zechs intentions just as Heero did, and the Maguanac Corps arrive in space to assist the Gundams in battle. Heero gets Relena onto Peacemillion, then heads out with Wing ZERO to find Zechs. Dorothy hooks herself to the ZERO system on Libra and challenges Quatre to a fencing duel. She criticizes his actions as a Gundam pilot before stabbing him in the leg. Wufei duels with Treize a second time and wins. Treize tells Wufei that he was honored to fight with the Gundam pilots before Tallgeese explodes. Lady Une announces the Earth's surrender upon Treize's death, and on top of Libra, Heero and Zechs start their final battle while Noin watches close by.
#49 - The Final Victor
Trowa finds Quatre and Dorothy, and informs her of Treize's death. He disengages the ZERO system and then accompanies a wounded Quatre back into battle. Duo, Quatre and Trowa attempt to destory Libra before it can reach Earth's atmosphere, but they aren't able to destroy all of it. A large chunk continues to fall - with Zechs and Heero fighting inside. As they realize what's happening, and it appears Heero is going to win, Zechs calms down to inform Heero that he's a kind person who should continue living into the new era. Then Zechs gets bitter again and disappears into a wall of flames. Heero quickly gets out of Libra to destroy the remaining chunk. Upon it's destruction, Lady Une calls for the Earth to destroy all it's weapons and begin a peaceful era with the colonies, where both work together to help each other. Later, Noin and Dorothy visit Treize's grave with flowers, and Noin states that she's sure Zechs is still alive. As the other Gundam pilots head back to their lives, Heero disguises himself as a maintaince worker and leaves the new Vice Minister Relena a birthday card and a teddy bear in her shuttle as she perpares to head back to Earth after visiting the colonies.
