Preventer Five is an unfinished manga that takes place after Endless Waltz. Below is a basic plotline for what takes place in this short manga story. The manga can be found in the Episode Zero compilation book, located at the very end. I have been told by some Gundam Wing fans that the Episode Zero compilation (which includes all 6 EZ stories) can be found on Amazon.com. It features an orange cover with all five GW pilots. The Preventer Five manga is located at the back of this compilation.
The story starts on April 8th, AC 197. Relena is throwing some sort of party at her estate, and among the included guests are Lady Une, Mariemaia Kushrenada and Dorothy Catalonia. Quite suddenly, masked terrorists break into the event. Relena demands to know who they are, and they announce that they are the "Epyon de Telos", they've captured the Sanc Kingdom Castle, and they demand the rights to bear arms, have their imprisoned commrades released, and they want 1/3 the Unified Nation's budget as ransom within 24 hours. Otherwise, they plan to detonate a nuclear warhead.
Wufei contacts Sally about the problem, and states that he can take care of the situation on his own. Sally snaps that his idea isn't a great course of action and demands he think of a better way. So he asks her for backup. Sally tells him she can easily get 200 people to his aid in 20 hours, but Wufei replies that by that time, the Sanc Kingdom will be destroyed. So she drops her idea down to 100 people in 18 hours. Wufei simply tells her that including himself, only five people will be needed, and he'll tell her where to find the other four.
Sally drops by Hilde's place first, but Hilde tells her that Duo isn't around. So Sally goes in search for Duo, and finds him on a shuttle by himself. He agrees to help if the job isn't a pain, and Sally informs him that he'll like the reward.
Meanwhile, Wufei heads off to Quatre's, finding the fourth pilot buried under paperwork and slightly stressed. Quatre doesn't bother to look up and snaps for whoever entered to close the door so he can keep working. Wufei surprises him and says they need him most of all. Quatre, elated by this news, tells Wufei he's thrilled to help and the paperwork isn't really his favorite thing to do. They leave together.
The two of them head over to the circus where they find Trowa, and needless to say, Catherine isn't pleased they're kidnapping her "little brother". Wufei jokingly thanks her for the soup she fed him in the early episodes of Gundam Wing, and she says that if Trowa doesn't come back, she'll feed Wufei the same soup again. As they hurry off, Trowa tells Wufei not to worry, that Catherine is his only guardian.
Wufei and Quatre examine some blueprints of Sanc, and discover a basement where Heero once hid Wing Gundam. Sally enters and announces that she couldn't find Heero, and Wufei tells her that Heero would never sit still in such a crisis and is already in the room. Heero sits waiting for their remarks. Quatre announces that Duo and Trowa are already inspecting the castle.
Heero tells the other he's "made a little toy", which turns out to be a voice coder that will come in handy after he takes the guards out. He can tell a commanding officer there are no problems at the front gate while the pilots rush in. Duo and Trowa return to inform the others that the castle has been turned into a fortress and there are a lot of video cameras and guns around. No one knows where the hostages are, and Trowa thinks they should give up unless they drive a few tanks in.
Quatre says they won't need tanks, just a mobile suit. Naturally, this interests Heero to no end, and Wufei tells them it's a fake suit made to look like Wing Zero. Duo sweatdrops (obviously, he feels a fake isn't a great idea...) and Sally tells them all the suit can do is walk. Duo voices his doubtful opinion, and Quatre insists they not kill anyone, but to make sure no one blows up the kingdom either. Heero agrees that's a good course of action, if it'll work, though.
Quatre tells them the plan. Trowa sneaks into the monitor room and sends a dummy image to the other monitors, but he does add the mission is dangerous. Trowa says this will be no problem. In the meantime, Wufei and Sally take the ransom money over, and they get killed by Duo, who's pretending to be a crazy, berserk terrorist soldier. This is supposed to cause a riot, and Wufei is supposed to escape. Duo jokes that he might use real bullets, and Wufei tells him that if he does, he'll kill Duo first. Wufei will meet Quatre in the underground basement, while Duo is held in confinement. The hope is that Duo will be placed with the hostages. If not, that's when the Wing Zero fake comes in handy.
Quatre's plan is that the soldiers will tell Heero (in Wing Zero) that they can blow the kingdom up and kill him as well. Heero's response is that his death doesn't matter, because "that was my girl, and it's not worth living anymore [without her]". Quatre hopes the soldiers will run to the nuclear shelter, so the pilots can lock them up and save the hostages at their own leisure.
With that, they all rush out to complete their mission.
There is a post script message by creator Katsuyuki Sumisawa as to why this story remains uncomplete. The reasoning is that fans could easily guess the actions of the pilots or what might happen, so he deleted the rest of the story. He stated that if anyone wanted to see the story completed, they could submit a request to Anime V, or make up the rest of the story on their own. However, considering that Gundam Wing is over 10 years old, it seems highly unlikely that the creator plans to finish this manga for any fans.
